Welcome to Fiordland College
|

Fiordland College is a co-educational Year 7 – 13 secondary school catering for the needs of the Te Anau Basin Community. We pursue educational excellence within a safe and caring environment and pride ourselves on the quality of educational experiences we are able to provide our students. Academic, sporting, cultural, environmental, outdoor and leadership opportunities are all catered for and our dedicated, highly qualified and friendly staff care about the needs of every student. The small class sizes and individual attention provided enable a personalised approach to learning. As a result our students are allround achievers who enjoy academic success and do well in their chosen careers.
Fiordland College is located in the town of Te Anau, on the edge of Fiordland National Park. We make the most of our unique natural environment through a comprehensive Outdoor Education programme. We are also an Enviroschool/ Kura Taiao. Our students come mainly from the Te Anau Basin which provides a very supportive community for our school. This is seen through the huge support our families and local businesses provide to help ensure the very best facilities and opportunities for our students.
Our school motto is “Reward for Effort” and we are working hard to ensure that we are:
"A place where all can thrive"
In November I was appointed to the position of Principal of Otago Girls' High School in Dunedin. I will take up this role at the beginning of Term 2 2012.
Although this is an exciting new challenge for me I will very much miss the students, staff and community of Fiordland College. I have enjoyed 3 wonderful years leading the school and we have made great progress in ensuring the best educational outcomes for students in the Te Anau Basin. The Board of Trustees are working hard on finding my replacement and are keen to appoint a principal who can lead the school over the next few years.
I can thoroughly recommend the school, community and position.
